the recent experiences of the Washington Artillery unit of the Louisiana

Sartiskey, Director of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, will speak on

adjunct professor at Tulanel Universtiy, will speak on her new book on the New

Paris née Laveaux"; Robert Villars on "Genealogy Through The Eyes
of a Lay Person, Claude Joseph Villars Dubreuil"; and Michael Dean
Charbonnet and Wilfred Hellmers Charbonnet on "The Charbonnets in the New

will discuss the Black Code in a comparative context through the 18thcentury.

The Louisiana Historical Society sponsors monthly historical lectures on
the second Tuesday of September, October, November, March, April, and May. The
lectures commence at 7:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 5401 S.
Claiborne Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. They conclude with refreshments and
are open to all. The Lecture to commemorate the Louisiana Purchase is held at
the Sala Capitular in the Cabildo on Jackson Square near December 20 of each
year. The celebration of the American victory over the British at the Battle of
New Orleans is held on January 8 of each year at a local restaurant.
